You will receive a CORRECTED 2018 1099-R tax form soon
After our retirees' original 2018 1099-R forms were printed and prepared for mailing, we learned that a certain group contained incorrect data. Unfortunately, your original form was in this group. We are very sorry for this error.
Your CORRECTED 1099-R form will be mailed to you on Thursday, January 31
As you will see, on your Corrected 1099-R:
- at the top, the "CORRECTED" box is checked,
- Box 1, "Gross distribution," reflects the annuity portion of your benefit, plus your veteran's benefit, if applicable,
- Box 2a, "Taxable amount," is blank,
- Box 2b, "Taxable amount not determined," is checked, and
- Boxes 5 and 9b are blank.
When filing your tax return, be sure to use your Corrected Form 1099-R. If you need information to determine the taxable portion of your retirement allowance using either the General Rule or Simplified Method, please refer to IRS Publication 575, available online at
www.irs.gov.

REMINDER: If you are receiving a monthly benefit, your blue-and-yellow 2019 Benefit Verification Form was enclosed with your original 1099-R. Be sure to complete and return your Benefit Verification form by March 29, 2019.
