Starting Thursday, July 13, 826 Boston is bringing its College Essay and Professional Writing Workshop to a group of high school interns from the EdVestors Bloomberg Arts Internship program. The six-part workshop series supports rising juniors and seniors in developing and refining their college application essays, resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and personal pitches.

Each tutoring shift includes:

  • 15-minute volunteer pre-brief to discuss the day’s topic,
  • 15-20-minute mini-lesson led by a member of the 826 Boston team,
  • 75-70-minute work block when volunteers will work with one or two students, and
  • 15-minute debrief to discuss successes, challenges, and learnings from the day.

Each Thursday there will be three shifts, (which can be in person at our tutoring center located at 3035 Washington Street in Roxbury MA, or virtual through Zoom), 8:45 AM – 10:45 AM, 10:45 AM – 12:45 PM, and 12:45 PM – 2:45 PM.

Starting Monday, July 17, 826 Boston is hosting an entirely virtual three week professional writing workshop series for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s Today’s Interns, Tomorrow’s Professionals program. This shorter series will also be supporting students in the development of college application essays, resumes, and their personal pitches.

Each tutoring shift includes:

  • 15-minute volunteer pre-brief to discuss the day’s topic,
  • 15-20-minute mini-lesson led by a member of the 826 Boston team,
  • 75-70-minute work block when volunteers will work with one or two students, and
  • 15-minute debrief to discuss successes, challenges, and learnings from the day.

Each Monday shift will be from 12:45 PM – 2:45 PM, and held on Zoom.
