St. Mark Community Education Program (SMCEP) runs ESOL and citizenship classes. Our mission is to help immigrants acquire the skills and citizenship status necessary to thrive, enrich their communities, and fully participate in society.

In addition to classes, we also have conversation groups that provide an opportunity for students to increase their vocabulary, learn American idioms and slang, and develop greater fluency. The groups meet weekly for 60 to 90 minutes. Each conversation group has a facilitator who organizes and oversees the sessions.

We are seeking a volunteer to serve as “Conversation Group Coordinator”. This is a remote volunteer position and training will be provided.

The Conversation Group Coordinator will:

  • Work with our Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and oversee conversation group facilitators
  • Help to expand the conversation group program
  • Monitor groups
  • Compile conversation group resources

** Prior teaching and/or tutoring experience would be helpful, along with strong organizational skills.

The position requires a time commitment of approximately 3 hours per week for at least 6 months to a year. It’s a great opportunity to engage in meaningful work, and we’d love to have you join our vibrant team!
