Dear School District Superintendents, Directors, Business Managers, Payroll Officials, Town Treasurers, Charter School and Education Collaborative Directors,
As a final reminder, and also clarification of our e-mail of February 15, the application filing deadlines for §3 creditable service purchases at the current, lower “buyback” interest rate of 4.125% are as follows:
- For members to file at least Part 1, the “member portion” of their application: TUESDAY, APRIL 2, 2013.
- For members to file Part 2, the “employer portion” of the application: Wednesday, October 2, 2013.
As described in our e-mail of February 15, the only change in the application process was to allow members to submit the “employer portion” separately from the “member portion” and at a later time.
Available now on our website are updated versions of our §3 service purchase applications that reference the filing deadlines and have clearly separated member and employer sections. If a member has already asked you to complete an “old” version of the “employer portion” of one of our applications, please feel free to use either the “old” form that the member provided or the new version of Part 2. For your reference, the updated interactive version of Part 2 of our substitute, temporary or part-time service purchase application is also available.
Finally, to remind members of the April 2 deadline, we will also be sending a “last call” broadcast e-mail to our members for whom we have e-mail addresses very soon.
