As you may know, the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement Board is comprised of seven members, two of whom are elected by the members of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System for four-year terms. Since the terms of our incumbent elected members expire on December 31, 2019, the Board has scheduled an election for this fall. Active and retired MTRS members are eligible to run for these unpaid positions, and interested members may obtain nomination papers from our Charlestown office beginning August 1. Ballots will be mailed to the home addresses of eligible voters in early November, and votes must be cast by December 10.
At your earliest convenience, we respectfully ask that you forward the attached notice announcing our upcoming Board election to your teachers and administrators via your internal e-mail network, or post it in appropriate locations within your school building(s). Also, it would be helpful if you would call attention to this notice during any upcoming staff meetings or include a note about it in any announcements that you may circulate to your faculty members. As you will see, the poster provides important information, including the election schedule and deadlines that are critical to any member seeking to be elected to the Board.
If you have any questions about the election, please contact our Charlestown office at 617-679-6877 or geninfo@trb.state.ma.us. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance!
